Photoshop ???????

Is there a place I can download a free trial version or something of the sort? I am in an Advertising class and in charge of creating the magazine print ad... I am going to sketch out the outline and then scan it onto a computer to hopefully digitalize the color etc. with photoshop. (Which I cant afford bc I am a poor college student lol)

Or any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

You can get a free trial from Adobe.com. But since you are a student, you should talk to your school about helping you get the student license version (also called the educational version). It's not free, but it's a lot cheaper (abut 1/3 the cost of the retail package). Even if your school can't help you get the program, you can order it from any of several academic resellers, such as JourneyEd.com or AcademicSuperStore. You will still need to prove you are a student, but your school will be able to help with that.

Another alternative is to get Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, which is the consumer product and may well be adequate for you. It's less than $100 (around $80 on Amazon.com). But I hope you already have some experience using these programs, or you will have to spend time learning how they work too.

One other alternative is to download gimp. www.gimp.org. It's a free Photoshop-like image editor, probably the best of the legal OpenSource programs out there. There is a learning curve, of course, because it's not completely like Photoshop. But it might be worth the try, since you can get it immediately.
